Brian “Nick” Nicholson’s musical journey began long before he picked up his first instrument.
Known to friends as Nick — the inspiration behind his music brand, TuneNick — Brian grew up surrounded by music. His grandmother played piano and organ for silent movies, and both parents were accomplished pianists. The family home was alive with sound, thanks to the steady stream of students coming for piano lessons taught by his mother.

At 13, Nick received a guitar for Christmas, and by the following year, he had already formed his first band. By Grade 11, he was performing in seven different bands and choirs. Along the way, he learned to play piano, clarinet, saxophone, and bass guitar, quickly proving himself a multi-instrumentalist.
Pursuing his passion, Nick earned a diploma in Professional Music from Vancouver Community College, majoring in voice. He later moved to London, Ontario, where he obtained another diploma in Recording Production from Fanshawe College.
His career has been as diverse as his skills. Nick has managed and promoted musical groups, and for over 30 years, he has performed as a lead vocalist and on bass, guitar, and keyboards. Behind the scenes, he worked as a recording engineer for CBC, VTV, Knowledge Network, Post Modern Sound, and Finale Post, contributing to productions such as Lonesome Dove, Madison, Highlander, Hawkeye, and Super Dave Osborne, as well as numerous films.

Perhaps most notably, Nick served as Producer for the LG Morning Zoo at LG73/CFOX, where he created over 150 original song parodies, performing as the primary musician and vocalist. These comedic songs aired daily for nearly eight years, cementing his reputation as a creative force in Canadian radio — a legacy recognized in his recent induction into the RPM Radio Hall of Fame.
Today, as TuneNick, he works from his home studio writing and recording music across a wide range of genres — from heartfelt ballads to rock, country, and classical compositions. Whether on stage or in the studio, Nick continues to craft music with the same passion that began in his family’s living room decades ago.
